There was a person who was put in the dark.

By people they loved. By people they trusted. By systems that were supposed to protect them. They were pushed down, into cold soil, into heavy silence. Covered with shame that wasn't theirs, with lies, with words meant to end them.
For a long time, they believed it was over.
Because in the dark, you cannot tell if you are buried or planted. Both are lonely. Both are quiet. Both feel like the end.
But buried things rot.
Planted things crack open.
One night, in the deepest dark, their shell broke. Not from weakness. From readiness.
A small green thing, stubborn, almost invisible, pushed up from the gold inside them. It hurt. Growing always hurts when you've been underground too long.
They didn't shoot up overnight. They grew in spirals. Like branches intertwining. Like roots learning to hold the earth again. Like leaves that come back after every winter, even when no one thought they would.
