              Chapter 3: THE FLIGHT

She became fire.

There comes a moment when you stop asking why it happened, not because you have the answer, but because you stop needing one. For a long time she lived inside the questions. Why did they leave? Why did it hurt so long? Why did she stay when she knew she should go? She wore those questions like a second skin. They kept her small. They kept her waiting, waiting for an apology that would never come, waiting for a door to open that she was always meant to walk away from. Then one evening, with no warning and no ceremony, she got tired.

Not the kind of tired that sleep can fix.

The kind of tired that tells the truth. She was tired of carrying what was never hers to carry. The blame. The shame. The stories other people told to make themselves comfortable with what they did to her. She stood at the edge of everything she once called home. Not a building, not a city, a version of herself. The one who apologized too much. The one who shrank to make others comfortable. The one who begged to be loved by hands that only knew how to take. The air was thick with the smoke of that old life.

And she finally decided to breathe out.

People thought she broke that night. They whispered. They watched for her fall, but what they called breaking was really burning, and what they called burning was really becoming.

She did not burn her life down to be cruel. She burned the story they wrote about her. The one that said she was too late. Too damaged. Too emotional. Too much and not enough, all at once.

She let it all burn every lie, every label, every time she was told to sit down and be quiet. She watched the ashes fall like snow, and for the first time in years, she was not cold. She was warm. She was alive, because this is what they never tell you: fire does not only destroy. Fire clears. Fire cleans. Fire makes room for what was always supposed to grow.

She stood in that clearing alone, but not lonely and remembered something she had forgotten since she was a little girl, before anyone told her who to be, she knew.

She was not made to crawl.

She was not made to beg.

She was made to fly.

It would be easy to say she flew away from the pain, but the truth is softer and stronger than that. She flew toward herself. Toward the woman who had been waiting on the other side of all that grief, patiently, with open arms. The woman who does not flinch anymore. The woman who does not explain her scars. The woman who knows that healing is not about becoming someone new it is about coming home to who you were before the world told you to forget.

And so she lifted.

Not in a rush, not with noise. Warriors do not need to announce their becoming.

She lifted quiet. Steady. Certain.

The wind caught her, and she let it. Below her, the past grew smaller, not because it didn't matter,  but because she finally did.

This is how the collection ends, but this is how her life begins.

Not with revenge.

Not with noise.

With flight.

She became fire,

so she could finally breathe.

She became fire,

so she could finally be free.

She became fire,

so she could finally fly.

And she did.
